10/10/2007 SUGABABES: About You Now. An absolute solid gold corker to preview the ‘Babes next album and, with Girls Aloud resting at the mo, once more laying claim to be Britain’s top girl band. Babes come and go at an alarming rate, but while the cute Keisha is the only original member still wiggling her tush with the band, foxy Heidi and delicious Amelle bring plenty to the party on this thumpingly fine chunk of impossibly catchy electro pop. It’s not particularly original and the arrangement may even be dated – and not in a good way – but boy is it effective. Get it in your head and it won’t escape in a hurry, one of those tracks that’ll have you heading for the dance floor at a furious rate. Small wonder it has made them the first act to top the UK chart on downloads alone – now giving them a very impressive six chart-toppers. If you thought last year’s Overloaded singles collection signalled the end of their run of hits, then you were wrong, wrong, wrong and not unlike the All Saints comeback, that Spice Girls reunion could end up looking very embarrassing if they go up against the Sugababes in this form. | ||
